My Life in Ten Years By Emily Anfield Ten years ago, seemed like a long time. And it might be to some people, but for me it seems like it was just last year. I don’t know why, but it was. My life has changed a lot. I look back at my seventh grade year at Gurrie, and realize the important things I’ve learned, the technology that has been invented in the past ten years, and startling things that I found out at my Jr. High reunion. Ten years can make a difference. Seventh grade year was the best. That was the year that I learned a lot. I learned to be who you are and you’ll find your true friends. When I came to Gurrie, I met a lot of new people and I learned that my friends are the ones who like me for who I am. So many teachers at Gurrie always told me to follow my dreams and always reach for my goals. Most of my dreams have come true, so far. I knew I could trust them because they always gave me the best advice, especially Mr. Pontrelli with the lessons of life. And my school motto was; “Be Respectful, Be Ready, Be Safe.” Through my years at Gurrie, and I learned what that actually meant; be ready for whatever comes in life and to always make the right decision. I learned my rights and wrongs, and that actually will help me throughout my life. Seventh grade was the best.
I loved technology when I was little, but now it is even better. When I was little, only astronauts could go to space, now there is an elevator to Mars and anyone can go; if you have the equipment. It only takes 5 minutes to get there. And there are also holograms! It is so cool; you can see people virtually and talk to them. I don’t know what I would do without technology.
So, I found out in a letter that my Jr. High is having a reunion. I was really excited, and you would never think that your classmates would be famous or even president! It was crazy. At the reunion, I found out that Miranda Smith, from my English class became the first woman president. Now, when I think back, you would never think that she would become president; she was always the crazy and weird one. I never saw it coming. But something even bigger, I found out that Sammy Conrad, Brad Gibbons, Grant Baker, and Tyler Wielgos are a famous rap quartet. I couldn’t believe it because they were some of my good friends at Gurrie. I was astounded.
Ten years ago, I was a teenager. Now I am a young adult. My life has changed a lot, but I still have my family and my friends with me. I may look and act different, but I’m still Emily Anfield. Ten years really does make a difference.
